Help us drive the research with a donation from your donor-advised fund.

Making a charitable gift through your donor-advised fund (DAF) is a powerful way to support the mission of the Foundation Fighting Blindness to drive the research for treatments and cures for blinding diseases affecting 1 in 53 individuals around the world.

With the support of generous friends like you, we’ve been able to help:

  • Identify more than 270 retinal disease-causing genes.
  • Fund more than 93 research grants annually.
  • Provide genetic testing and counseling for $2,000 per person.

Donating from your donor-advised funds is safe, easy, and fast.

Using the donation form above, making a charitable gift is a quick process:

  1. Select the DAF provider and login directly to your account
  2. Check your DAF account balance and enter your desired gift amount
  3. Share your personal information (i.e. email and address) for your receipt records
  4. Select if you would like to cover the processing fee, as well as need leave a note or designation (if applicable)
  5. Be sure to select "Foundation Fighting Blindness, 6925 Oakland Mills Rd #701, Columbia, MD 21045"
  6. Hit submit and your grant donation request is complete!

Upon making a donation, you can elect to receive an automatic grant request confirmation that will be sent to the email address you provided. All donor-advised fund donations are non refundable.

Why use donor-advised funds (DAFs) to make a donation?

donor-advised funds are the fastest-growing giving method and a tax-efficient way to manage charitable donations. donor-advised funds allow you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend donations from the fund over time.

I need assistance with my donation. How can I get in touch?

If you would like to learn more about how you can help us fund cures through a donor-advised fund, please contact Judy Taylor, SVP, chief development officer, at 410-423-0592 or JTaylor@FightingBlindness.org. If you are sending an email, please include "DAF Donation" in the subject line.

Donor-advised funds (DAFs) restrictions.

Donors may not receive personal benefit (including goods and services) from grants. For example, donors cannot recommend a grant to an organization’s gala event, and then receive tickets to attend. Those tickets are a benefit, and therefore, are against the rules. Donors also cannot recommend grants from DAFs for membership fees.

Donors may not use DAF funds to fulfill a personal pledge. No payments from a donor-advised fund can be used to satisfy a legally binding pledge. DAF sponsors can, however, help donors make multi-year commitments that are not treated as a legally-binding pledge, i.e. letters of intent.
